Performance Corner: ‘Karaoke’- Drake

Drake performed this past week at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, and brought everyone imaginable out for the show. Some fan footage has been put onto youtube, and originally I was going to post his collaboration with Jay-Z , ‘Light Up’, but I found something that I believe to be better.

‘Karaoke’ was a slow burner for me. Drakes album was full of so many songs that I overlooked ‘Karaoke’ when I first got the album. As time went on the song started to make an impact on me. Currently it is one of my favorite tracks from the album, and I had to watch the performance from the concert to see if he did the song justice. Drake is a good performer while he is rapping, but his singing often leaves much to be desired. Since ‘Karaoke’ has both sining and rapper I did not know what to expect from the performance.

Drake nailed the performance (or at least the 2 minutes shown below). He stated that he works on his voice everyday during his documentary, which is good because he needs to improve before he drops his second album. The clip below proves that his voice is getting better, and it makes me want to see him in concert even more now.  He performs with Francis from Francis and the Lights, who also sounds great. Overall good job. Take a look below and go on to youtube to find your favorite album cut.

What do you think of the performance?
