The results are drawn up from the amount of airplay and digital sales that a song has sold over the year. So keep that in mind as you read the list before you get angry.
Since my Grammy features went over so well I am going to try to breakdown most of the charts over the next week giving my thoughts and opinions, so I thought that I would start with the Hot 100 because the song of the year surprised me the most.
Even with all the criticism that has been surrounding her this whole year it looks like Ke$ha will have the last laugh. ‘Tik Tok’ is the number 1 song of the year, making her the first woman to have a song named Song on the Year by Billboard in history.
I can’t believe it, but Ke$ha continues to surprise me with her success. She may have gotten passed upon with Grammy nominations (rightfully so), but she is by no means a failure. Having the ability to rule the Hot 100 takes skill, and considering that fact that she wrote ‘Tik Tok’ proves that she is doing something right.
‘Love The Way You Lie’ was also a surprise to me, coming in at number 7. Considering the fact that it was number 1 for 7 weeks, and all of the hype around the song I thought it would at least hit the top 5.
Taio Cruz should really be happy considering that he has two singles in the top 10. As a new artist this is pretty exciting, especially that he has crossed over from the UK. If he is able to keep up this success, he will join the elite group of international acts that actually work in the US.
