Artist Watch: Jessie J

Over the past few years the UK has been producing some serious talent. Even though American Market is notoriously difficult to crack, a few UK artist have broke through, some thing that I expect Jessie J to do.

Justin Timberlake claims that she has the best voice in the world right now, and she just won the coveted BBC Sound Award for 2011, which has gone too the likes of Adele, and 50 Cent.

So what makes her good?

Willow Preps 2nd Single

Now that the hype and success of ‘Whip My Hair’ died down, it’s time for Willow to prove that she is not a one-hit wonder.

Willow filmed a video for her second single this weekend in California-see the picture to the left to get your first look.

The song is said to be in a more dance direction than her debut single, something that is not surprising considering the direction of pop music right now. Find out the name of the song with a snippet below: Continue reading

Kanye Strikes Again and Again

2011 continues to baffle me unexpected twist and turns in the music world. It was announced to that Kanye West release another album this summer. You heard right, another album.

While some people are going to find the new exciting, I honestly am skeptical about it. Kanye delivered a near perfect album with My Beautiful Continue reading

Rihanna Preps ‘S&M’ And More!

While Britney is dominating literally every chart, Rihanna is making sure that she won’t fall to the wayside in what’s set to be one of the biggest years for women in pop music.

Rihanna just released the cover to her third single ‘S&M’ this morning. Considering the nature of the song, the cover is surprisingly tame. The song hit a peak of 53 on the Hot 100 during LOUD‘s release week. Currently, the song is 83 on itunes with the official radio release being January 25th, though the song has been getting a good amount of play already.

Continuing to maintain her relevance, Rihanna released ‘Raining Me’, featuring Nicki Minaj, to urban radio last month. I didn’t think that song would do Continue reading

Dirty Money Covers ‘Like A G6’

Diddy-Dirty Money are currently in the UK promoting their debut album ‘Last Train To Paris’. American artists usually do some awesome covers in many of the radio stations over seas, and the group decided to do their own rendition of the hit song ‘Like A G6’.

The cover of the song is actually good, with the girls adding their own flare to the song. As always, Dawns unique vocals stole the show, but the rest of the group sounded fine as well. It was a smart song to cover considering that it was a worldwide hit, something the group has yet to achieve.

With Diddy being the way he is though, they ‘upgraded’ the song to a G7,which is not a plane at all if you listen to the recording all the way through. Irony.

Poll: ‘Lasers’ Artwork

Rap-Up posted the cover to Lupe Fiasco’s upcoming third album Lasers this morning. Normally, I don’t really notice an albums cover unless it’s either amazing or completely absurd. (Read this to find out what I mean). This cover would be in the amazing category.

In all honestly the cover of an album is like the cover of book, meaning people are going to judge it. Lupe has struck gold with making a simple, yet compelling cover thats sure to catch the eye.  Everything from the colors, to the A painted over the O of losers is just Continue reading

Dr. Dre Announces ‘Detox’ Release Date

After years of waiting Dr.Dre fans have finally gotten some official word on the release date of his extremely delayed third solo album Detox. It may be hard to believe, but his last album, 2001, was released over 10 years ago in 1999.

For years now there have been rumors circulating about Detox. Random artists have announced that they were working on the album, and then silence would follow. I was starting to think that the arrival of Detox was an urban legend, and that we’d never see the day.

Recently, Dre released ‘Kush’, the first single with Snoop Dogg and Akon. This was the first step in the right direction. Then today Dre announced that the album will be relased on (drumroll) Continue reading

Poll: ‘Hold It Against Me’

Britney Spears continues to dominate the charts as information concerning the success of ‘Hold It Against Me’ is slowly released. She now holds the record for the most spins in one week with 3,866. Insane.

Not only that, but the song has continued to stay number 1 on itunes, so there is no way it won’t have the number 1 spot on the digital charts. While all signs are pointing to a number 1 debut on the Hot 100, no one will be certain until later in the week. I will say this though, it would be a huge shock if she does not nab the number 1 spot. With all of this early success it only makes sense.

Twitter continues to ring off with all things Continue reading
