End of the Year Charts: Hot 100

With the end of the year only three weeks away it’s time for the year end charts to be coming out. Billboard revealed the end of the year charts today, and I was surprised by some of the results.

The results are  drawn up from the amount of airplay and digital sales that a song has sold over the year. So keep that in mind as you read the list before you get angry.

Since my Grammy features went over so well I am going to Continue reading

The Perfect Storm

Finally the week of Black Friday is upon us, bringing one of the busiest weeks for releases in music this year. I like to refer to this as The Perfect Storm because I have a feel that it is going to be pretty unpredictable. So I’m wondering which albums you are going to be buying this week, or what albums you’d like to get. This is the biggest shopping week of the year, so I assume that most of you will be going out to shop, and hopefully buying music too! Considering that some of them have leaked I wouldn’t be surprised if some of you have downloaded them already. Also, considering all of the other albums that have been released you may be wanting to buy one Continue reading

Ke$ha Joins The Elite

Last week was an exciting week on itunes with all of Taylor Swift singles being in the itunes top 100. In an unexpected turn of events Ke$ha came out on top this week. She now joins the few artists who have had the privilege of debuting at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

‘We R Who We R’ debuts at number 1 this week on the Hot 100. Only 17 artist have done that, so Ke$ha now joins the likes of Michael Jackson, Elton John, Mariah Carey, Eminem, and Carrie Underwood in this elite group.

‘Sleazy’- Ke$ha

Rating: A-

Honestly Ke$ha is going harder than ever with the release of ‘Cannibal’. While ‘We R Who We Are’ storms up itunes in the US, Ke$ha’s team seems to have done something different in Australia. According to The Prophet Blog, ‘Sleazy’, a track taken from ‘Cannibal’ has been released to Australian itunes. The track is something I never expected from Ke$ha, and could capitulate her to a new level of stardom.

The song was produced by Bangladesh, Continue reading

iTunes Madness

Today has been a pretty interesting day on itunes since I did my Release Me Tuesday article this morning, and I’m honestly shocked by the current standings on itunes right now.

First off, I said that I was surprised that Willow wasn’t in the top 10 this morning, and then said that I didn’t think she could pull it off due to the new Taylor Swift songs that were debuting. It looks like I’m going to have to eat my words because ‘Whip My Hair’ is currently number 10 on itunes. This should result in a lofty Billboard debut next week, especially if the track rises.

Chris Brown should also have a healthy debut, with ‘Yeah x3’ currently sitting at 17. I really am surprised at this, Continue reading

Release Me Tuesday

Another week full of new releases on itunes. Even though I literally can’t listen to her without cringing, its completely unavoidable to mention that Taylor Swift is releasing her third album ‘Speak Now’ this week. Its the follow up to 2008’s ‘Fearless’, which went on to win the Grammy for Album Of The Year. Regardless of my ill feeling towards her, this is expected to be one of the years biggest albums.

After the success Eminem saw with ‘Reecovery’, I doubt that Taylor could sell more this year. Then again, no one thought that Susan Boyle would end up on top last year, so anything can happen. Continue reading

‘We R Who We R’- Ke$ha

Rating: A
I never actaully thought that I’d put Ke$ha on the blog (mainly because she uses a dollar sign instead of an S), but after premiring her lead single from new EP ‘Cannibal’ I decided to change my mind. Ke$ha has ruled the airwaves this past year, with every on of her singles hitting the top 10-even the one she was featured on. The inicital success of ¬†‘Tik Tok’ lead many people to believe that Ke$ha would be a one hit wonder, but with 5 top 10 hits and a platinum album, it looks like the joke was on them.

‘Cannibal’ is an 8 track EP that is set to be release on Continue reading
