Video: ‘Someone Like You’

Months after premiering ‘Someone Like You’, Adele finally got around to making an official music video.

It’s real simple. Adele walks around looking sad. It’s in black and white. The camera pans around quickly. Adele looks sad again while pensively looking out to the water. She walks and looks sad.

Video: ‘Who’s That Chick’ Take 3

And why not add to the current music video theme with the third and “official” version of the Rihanna/David Guetta song ‘Who’s That Chick’. Honestly this is a final attempt to make the song a hit in the US. Thus far it has peaked at 51 on the Hot 100, and actually dropped a few spots on this weeks chart.

Last october the song and video were leaked months before the official release date, and then a night version of the video was released soon after. The song didn’t even receive an official radio release date until December, so for some people the track is actually quite old.

I have Continue reading

Video: ‘Moment 4 Life’

It only seems appropriate to post a music video after my earlier story. Nicki Minaj and Drake premiered the highly anticipated video to their song ‘Moment 4 Life’ tonight on MTV. The song is the fourth official single from Nicki’s debut album Pink Friday.

The clip follows Nicki in a fairy tale world, with her own Fairy Godmother and Prince. The video Nicki’s best to date, and the arrival of her alter-ego Martha as the Fairy Godmother was Continue reading

The Power of the Music Video

This past week P!nk released the video for her new single ‘F***ing Perfect’ (or ‘Perfect’ for radio purposes). The video was a shocker to say the least, with graphic depiction’s of attempted suicide, followed by a victorious recovery. Needless to say the video got people talking.

More importantly though it also got people buying, which is why the song has been number 1 on itunes for few days. The song Continue reading

Release Dates Galor

This week has brought the announcements of a few excited release dates. We’ll start first with Wiz Khalifa.

The rapper went to ustream to announce both his album title and release date. Rolling Papers is set to be released on March 29th. Following the success of ‘Black and Yellow’, Wiz should have a nice welcoming when his albums drops.

Speaking of ‘Black and Yellow’, the track sold 201,000 copies this Continue reading

BEP Releases ‘The Time’ Video

The Black Eyed Peas released their music video for their brand new single ‘The Time (Dirty Bit)’ tonight. With their album coming out next tuesday I was starting to wonder where the video was.

This past week BEP has been on promotional overdrive with performances on both Oprah and the AMA’s. Considering their current standing in music I know their sales will be epic next week, but with Susan Boyle dominating the charts for the second week in a row BEP might have to pull out all the stops to ensure they have another number 1 album under their belt.

‘The Time (Dirty Bit)’ video is everything you’d expect from BEP. It has a corniness that is forgiven due to advanced Continue reading

Video: ‘Don’t Let Me Fall’

The video for the fourth single from B.o.B. premiered this past week. ‘Don’t Let Me Fall’, which as always be my favorite song by him, has been given the single treatment after the success runs of his first three singles.

While the video for ‘Airplanes’ was good, I didn’t like the other two. ‘Don’t Let Me Fall’ is simple, but I enjoyed the video for the most part. Continue reading

The Vault: ‘Street Lights’

With finals week consuming me I have been listening to a lot of low key music to keep myself from wandering. Slow song play a key role in every finals week for me, so I wanted to mention one song that I really have forgotten about until recently.

Kanye West released ‘808 and Heartbreak’ back in 2008. While a lot of his fans were angry with the album I actually loved it. I thought that it was a genuine representation of where Kanye was in his life at that time. While there were clear cut radio songs on the album, the best tracks were those that were not. Continue reading

‘Runaway’ Thoughts

Over the weekend Kanye West premiered his film ‘Runway’, which is technically labeled as the music video for the song of the same title. Clocking in over 30 minutes, the film follows the story of a pheonix that falls from the sky and crosses paths with Kanye. He falls in love with her, but realizing that she does not belong in this world, the phoenix burns herself to return to her world.

I’m going to get this out of the way now, the film is insanely Continue reading

‘Gimme Dat’ Hit…

With ‘Gimme Dat’ leaking a day early Ciaras team, once again, has to deal with the aftermath. In today’s industry no one is safe against early leaks, and recently music vidoes have been dropping early like wild fire. Last month Rihanna’s video for ‘Who’s That Chick’ dropped almost two months before the release date. Ciara is quite familiar with leaks. Almost all of her last album ‘Fantasy Ride’ leaked months in advance, and there have even some leaks for ‘Basic Instinct’. Her latest problem occurred today when her video ‘Gimme Dat’ leaked one day before it’s release day. With all of these leaks I am wondering how this will affect Ciaras new album and her chance Continue reading
