Nicki Does SNL

Nicki Minaj made her SNL debut last night, performing two songs, rapping in the digital short and showing off her acting chops along the way.

It was quite an impressive set for Nicki, but I was beyond disappointed to see that she was performing “Right Thru Me”. I was hoping for literally any other song, but she did redeem herself with “Moment 4 Life”, which only seems to get better and better.

I honestly Continue reading

Wayne and Eminem Rock SNL

Last night Eminem performed on SNL brining Lil Wayne along for the ride. The pair performed their hit single ‘No Love’ together, and then each performed their own songs during the second set.

Eminem performed the P!nk assisted ‘Won’t Back Down’, which made me wonder if the track will be released as the fourth single from ‘Recovery’. At this point Eminem could release anything from that album because it sold so much, but ‘Won’t Back Down’ might go over well being that it’s Continue reading

Performance Corner: Diddy- Dirty Money

Last night Diddy and his group Dirty Money did some major promotion for their album ‘Last Train To Paris’ on SNL. The group performed two songs including new single ‘Coming Home’.

The group performed the song on the AMA’s, but the performance left much to be desired. I have to admit that the song is growing on me, even though I feel the same Continue reading

Performance Corner: Rihanna

Rihanna started her main promotional round for new album ‘Loud’ by performing on SNL last night. She kicked off with her second single ‘What’s My Name’ minus Drake, before heading into the number 3 song in the country ‘Only Girl’.

It’s better off to start this post by saying that there was something seriously wrong with the audio, especially on ‘Only Girl’. Now, I do think that Rihanna is good vocally, but she Continue reading

Performance Corner: Bruno Mars

Last night Bruno Mars made his SNL debut performing the number 1 hit ‘Just The Way You Are’ and second single ‘Grenade’. The entire set looked like a tribute to the 1960’s with Bruno looking and playing the part. SNL is a huge promotional tool for an artist of any stature, so hopefully his two perfect performances will result in stellar sales of his album, which dropped this week.

Below is the performance to ‘Grenade’, which he start out by singing his chorus to ‘Nothin’ On You’. Every aspect of the performance was perfect, from his pitch to his showmanship. He literally has all it take to be a legend, but he still has a long way to go. If he continues to perform like this and deliver hit songs Bruno could easily become one of the best out! Check out the performance and share what you think below: Continue reading

‘Runaway’- Kanye West feat. Pusha T

Rating: A
Kanye West released his second single ‘Runaway’ yesterday on iTunes from his fifth album due out on November 22. The song has had quite the buzz on the internet since Kanye premired it at the VMA’s. His performances on SNL were also widely spoken about this past weekend. It looks like Kanye has officially gone into full promotion mode. Even though the song leaked the day after the VMA’s I wanted to wait until it was officially released to give readers the extra push to buy the track.

Considering what has happened to Kanye this past year ‘Runaway’ was the best song for him to let out prior to the albums release. Aside from it being an amazing track, ‘Runaway’ is a personally statement of the self revelations that Kanye has experienced. With ‘Power’ and ‘Runaway’ it Continue reading
