Billboard: Katy Perry Scores

Katy Perry continues her winning streak as her single “E.T” advances to number 1 this week. The song is Katy’s fourth to land the top spot from her sophomore album Teenage Dream.

I still do not understand why Katy has found so much success. I will admit that she did shine with “Teenage Dream” and “E.T.” is pretty good as well. Aside from those two I do not understand her overall appeal. She’s average at best in my opinion, but the public seems to disagree with me.

Teenage Dream is now one of the 9 albums in history to produce 4 number 1 singles. The last album to do so was Confessions by Usher.

Miguel Covers Britney

In light of today being the release of Britney Spears seventh studio album Femme Fatale, it only feels right to do a post that is Britney related.

As part of Billboard’s Mash-Up Monday’s, singer Miguel stopped by the studio to give his rendition of the Britney Spears smash “Hold It Against Me.”

Miguel turned the pop song into a smooth soul jam lead by his powerful vocals and a blaring synth. While he did forget some of the lyrics overall he did a good job and I would argue that the song sounds better stripped down like this.

Covering a song is never easy, especially when you are trying to make it your own. Miguel successfully twisted the song into his style, while keeping some of the aspects the public fell in love with.
