As part of Billboard’s Mash-Up Monday’s, singer Miguel stopped by the studio to give his rendition of the Britney Spears smash “Hold It Against Me.”
Miguel turned the pop song into a smooth soul jam lead by his powerful vocals and a blaring synth. While he did forget some of the lyrics overall he did a good job and I would argue that the song sounds better stripped down like this.
Covering a song is never easy, especially when you are trying to make it your own. Miguel successfully twisted the song into his style, while keeping some of the aspects the public fell in love with.
It was quite an impressive set for Nicki, but I was beyond disappointed to see that she was performing “Right Thru Me”. I was hoping for literally any other song, but she did redeem herself with “Moment 4 Life”, which only seems to get better and better.

Lauryn Hill is currently making her rounds by dusting off her mic and performing again. While many speculate that this could lead to another album, most joy in the fact that she’s out performing again.
While their have been many female rappers, there was always something different about Lauryn Hill. It might be the fact that her album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, received five Grammy awards including album of the year, or the fact that it holds the record for biggest debut for female rap. Whatever the reason is, Lauryn seems to be in a league of her own.

I’d never seen it before tonight, and I had the feeling that a few of you haven’t as well so I decided to share it. The performance was at the peak of Rihanna’s career in 2008-although I think that the LOUD-era is going to be much bigger for Rihanna.
